Peyote Cactus

Peyote is a small thornless cactus (Lophophora williamsii), originating from southern Texas and northern Mexico. The plant is a very important religious sacrament in many North and Central American cultures. In many cultures, it is used as a trial through which young members of the tribe must pass, before ascending to full adulthood. The cactus is sold in Mexico as a medicine against blindness, fever and many other diseases.
