Althaea officinalis (50g)
Althaea, AKA the marshmallow plant, was originally used as a medicine by the ancient Egyptians. Its usage in Europe is traceable back to the 11th century, when candied pieces of the root were used as a cold remedy. It contains natural antibacterial agents and can help sooth a dry cough or a sore throat.
Marshmallow candy, now associated primarily with the United States, was made from the mucliage of this plant.. The name Marshmallow is derived from the English name marsh mallow.
The mucilage coats and soothes the lungs and, in animal experiments, anti-inflammatory and immune-stabilizing effects have also been detected. Different formulations are used to treat inflammation of the mouth and throat, to reduce coughing fits, bronchitis and mild gastrointestinal inflammation.
Traditional use: Tea ( 1-2 Tablespoons ) / Vaporize (150-200C)
