The San Pedro cactus (Trichocereus Pachanoi) is the oldest known magical plant in South America. Growing throughout Peru and Ecuador, at an altitude of 2000 to 3000 meters, the cactus develops rapidly into a plant with 4 to 9 ribs and a deep, strong root system. It grows until eventually it succumbs to its own weight and falls over. The fallen cactus will re-root and produce a number of “runners”, clones of itself that grow up to repeat the cycle.
